Bible passage: Revelation 5 (1) Revelation 5 speaks of the Lamb sharing God's throne (5:1) and being praised with God. Also the praises offered are similar (see 4:11 and 5:13). What does this say about the Lamb? (2) Why is the Lamb the only one who is worthy to open the scroll? (see 5:3-5 and v9 & 10) (3) What do you think is in the scroll? (4) This chapter paints a picture of all creation praising Jesus Christ as heaven and earth join together in song. Does that describe an average day for you? Do you feel that you are praising Christ as you go about ordinary life? (5) How does this section of Revelation make you feel? For example, are you simply confused by its mysterious images? Or, do you find it reassuring or comforting? Does the picture of Jesus sharing God's authority, power and praise influence your thinking and living? Extra Revelation is full of echoes, references and allusions to the Old Testament (OT). We have previously noted some parallels with the book of Daniel. OT references are rife in Revelation 5. For example, look at Ezekiel 2:1-3:3 and Isaiah 53 (all of it if you have time). What do you make of these connections?
