Hallelujah Chorus

Bible passage: Revelation 19:1-10

Hallelujah means ‘Praise the Lord’. Sometimes we can use that phrase glibly and without thinking.
What does it really mean to say ‘Praise the Lord’ in difficult times?

Read Revelation 19:1-10

Look at what the multitude in heaven shout ‘Praise the Lord’ about:

HIS SALVATION (v1)

It was said on Sunday that ‘being saved’ is an ongoing work of God. Can you identify with that thought, in what ways is that your experience?
Can you identify with Paul’s testimony of being saved, in 1 Timothy 1:15-16

HIS SEVERITY (v2 & 3)

If this praise for the judgment of God against wickedness and evil is not exulting over the destruction of others, and surely it is not, what in fact is it?

HIS SOVEREIGNTY (v4 & 5)

This is the last reference to the 24 elders, who represent the Church in Heaven. What in these verses would suggest that there is an equality of status and of dignity amongst the redeemed in Heaven?
Do you feel there is any tension between worshipping God and fearing God?

HIS SUPPER (v 6-9)

The supper that is mentioned in Heaven, is not a symbolic ritual like the Lord’s Supper (1 Corinthians 11:20). Rather, it is called ‘the wedding supper of the Lamb’.
Brainstorm about what you think the chief characteristics of this event will be?
What does the image of the Church being the Bride of Christ mean to you?
How can we make ourselves ready for this supper?
